Now that I am making plans to go back to Sicily in less than four months I decided to share some photos from Sicily. Not that many travelers to Italy make it to Sicily and yet there is so much to see there.

I love how the entire town that sits on a hilltop can be seen from a distance. This is very common in many parts of Italy, not just Sicily, since so much of the country is hilly or mountainous.

I always have a soft spot for vegetable trucks in Italy.

These are the winding roads we had to drive to reach the small town of Savoca, where scenes from the Godfather were filmed.

Here is more of the countryside in Sicily on the way to the city of Caltagirone.

Taormina is always beautiful and this small island called Isola Bella is one of my favorite shots.

One of my favorite memories and scenes in Sicily is shown on this short video shot on the road to Cesaro`, birthplace of my grandparents. It is like stepping back in time and I love it. Let me know what you think.
I hope you make it down to Agrigento and the Temple of the gods during your “viaggio Siciliano.” Buona vacanza!

Wonderful shots, Margie! I spent some time in Taormina many years ago, a beautiful town. The video reminded me of how the deer stroll around here.

When we are young we are making the future secure for ourselves and our progeny. As we grow older we begin to see our place alongside our ancestors and our history becomes more important. And as the pictures show, it is considerably more beautiful to reflect upon.

I’m thinking that Sicily might just have to be included on our next Italian holiday.

When I lived in the country in SC for a few years, one day someone’s cows got out & started down the road, ending up in our yard! That would’ve been okay if one hadn’t relieved himself.
