Lake Como Italy
Lake Como is one of the most beautiful places I have seen and lends itself to some gorgeous photo ops. Enjoy some scenes from Varenna, Bellagio, Pescallo, and Menaggio.

What kind of people live here? Is this strictly the affluent and tourists? Are there locals with rented apartments? Are there homes passed down in families? I love the view of the area but would be more interested if it was the lifestyle of the usual people that I ran into in the local farmers market or even Sweet Bay. What kind of work do the residents of those little villages do? I am sure the food and shop people can stay employed. I would think the fishing fleet would be busy but only see pleasure boats. Just curious today I suppose. I just really hope that people like me live in those places and are able to enjoy the ambiance. Bonnie D.

You are right insofar as Lake Como is an expensive area, particularly Bellagio. Many of the jobs the locals have consist of service-oriented work like the hotel and restaurant industry. The lake is huge though and has many towns with regular people who live there. The towns of Lenno and Menaggio are examples and I did go to those too. I will post some photos from those places on another day. Don’t forget Lake Como is where George Clooney owns a home.

I didn’t know George had a place there. He doesn’t tell me anything anymore!
