Sunset in Puglia ~ Polignano a Mare

Sunset in Puglia - Polignano a Mare Photo by Margie Miklas

Give me a sunset on the water in Italy and I think I am in Paradise!

Last June I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time and capture this dazzling view in the seaside Puglia town of Polignano a Mare. One of my travel companions and fellow blogger, Susan Nelson from Timeless Italy, was with me and both of us were elated at this good fortune. We walked from our hotel toward the area where we thought we’d have a good view and this was our reward!

What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear your feedback so please leave a comment.

And if you haven’t been to my Instagram  page lately, please check out it out. You’ll find more than a few sunset photos there.

Grazie and ciao.

  1. Very lovely, Margie! Somehow sunsets in Italy are the most beautiful in the world!

  2. As my focus has been Calabria for a number of years now, I have seen some pretty incredible sunset photos taken in Calabria on Facebook that as you say usually incorporate water. A really special view is when there’s an island out there in the mix and the sun goes down behind it. But out of all of them, I saw one earlier this year in the port of Gioia Tauro in which a crane looked like it was holding up the ball of the sun. I shared it and will try to put the url here, but I don’t know if it will come out:

Oh, but you ARE in Paradise, Margie! Agreed, Stella, mozzafiato! And Karen I have recently learnt about the Costa Viola in Calabria which has the most stunning violet sunsets…already planning a trip down there. I was stunned to see the photos. xx
