Seaside Photos in Italy

Fornillo Beach at Hotel Pupetto in Positano Photo by Margie MiklasThis site is no longer current. Please go to Margie in Italy for my up-to-date posts about my travels in Italy and all things Italian.  Grazie.

Italy is a peninsula and also has two large islands, Sardinia and Sicily, plus countless smaller islands. It is not surprising then that there is no dearth of beautiful beach scenes and seaside photos. As you know I love the beach and being near the water, so here are some of my favorite photos from the beaches and harbors of Italy. Enjoy!

The only thing I miss from my youth in Miami is the weekends on the water. Truly we came from the sea as it calls out to all of us. Italy and her islands are jewels in the seas that surround her.

  6. Brings back such beautiful beach memories of Italy. I remember staying at a lemon orchard B&B in Minori, and enjoyed the views from Levanto beach as well, which is the location of my profile pic 🙂

  8. Belli scatti! My favourite beaches are in the Gargano area, between Vieste and Mattinata, including the Isole Tremiti. Surrounded by olive groves and dotted with trabucchi. Would love to be on one of those beaches now! Ciao, Cristina

I am always desperate to get in the sea on arrival. It is only once submerged that I truly feel I have arrived! Sabaudia is a gorgeous long sandy beach with a bit of wave not too far from the craziness of Rome. Loved your pic of Isola Bella in Sicily, brought back memories, although the shells/stones are a bit rough on the feet :), another favorite for me was Capri’s marina piccola.
