I love Venice and it is a city that I would always love seeing again. This weekend though Venice was hit with heavy flooding with water five feet above the level of the Adriatic Sea, resulting in 70 percent of the city being flooded. This was the sixth highest level of water since 1872.
It certainly would change things for the average tourist if you were there during a flood like this. Check out this video from The Telegraph. It sure puts a different perspective on st Mark’s Square!

Mother Nature is annoyed with all of us. NYC would be underwater if the subway system did not accomadate half of the Atlantic ocean in its open portals. Very fortunate for that city. It just seems that there is trouble all over. Just dig in and start the pumps Venice, no city know better how to fight back the seas.

Oh, that’s not good at all. What o earth is happening? I hope Venice will survive all the onslaughts on it. It’s such a beautiful city.

This just breaks my heart – but they will recover. Italians (just like New Yorkers!) are resilient.

Wow, I hadn’t heard. This is terrible watching people wade through water. Something is definitely happening to our globe.

This is really tragic. I knew it was sinking anyway but now with the ocean rising…. I’m very glad I am land locked.
